With Kindred, you have access to hundreds of hospitals around the UK, so you can get high-quality, local care when you need it.
The cost of treatment at private hospitals can vary, so we’ve grouped our participating hospitals into two lists: Essential and Essential Plus. If you choose the Essential list, you can be treated at one of about 800 hospitals; if you upgrade to the Essential Plus list, you’ll have access to around 40 extra hospitals, mostly in and around London.
Whichever you choose, you’ll experience those creature comforts that make the whole thing that much easier. In most cases, you’ll be in a private room with your own bathroom, TV, telephone and WiFi. You won’t have to suffer traditional ‘hospital food’, you’ll be able to order from a restaurant-style menu. And your family will feel the benefit too: private hospitals tend to have better parking and more relaxed visiting hours.
With our Essential list, you can access around 800 hospitals across the country. These are all private hospitals or NHS hospitals with private rooms or wards.

If your GP thinks you should be referred to a specialist, ask them to write an open referral letter. Having an open referral will allow us to find the right consultant for you. We’ll give you a few options of local consultants who specialise in your condition, so you can make an informed decision about who you see, at a time that suits you.
When you have a referral from your GP, it’s important to call us first to check that the appointment will be covered under your policy. If you go ahead with an appointment without checking with us, you may have to pay for it yourself.
